TaoMatch Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to TaoMatch. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the agreement between you (“you” or “participant”) and TaoMatch (“we”, “our”, or “us”) regarding your participation in any retreat, course, or event organized by TaoMatch, whether held in-person in China or offered online.

By booking a retreat with TaoMatch, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any of these Terms, you should not participate in our retreats.

2. Eligibility

To attend a TaoMatch retreat, you must be:

  • At least 18 years old, or accompanied by a responsible adult if under 18 (subject to written consent and approval).
  • Physically and mentally fit to participate in retreat activities including but not limited to hiking, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and meditation.
  • In possession of valid travel documents, visas, and insurance (where applicable).

3. Booking & Payment

Payments can be made via bank transfer, credit card, or other methods specified on the booking page. Your place is not confirmed until full payment is received and you receive a confirmation email from TaoMatch.

4. Cancellations and Refunds

To confirm your booking, we need a 10% deposit, which is not refundable. The remaining balance must be paid at least 7 days before the start of the retreat. If you cancel the booking at least 72 hours before the retreat start, you will get a 50% refund of the total price. We will charge 100%, if cancellations are made less than 72 hours before the retreat start, or if you fail to show up or leave early.

If TaoMatch cancels the retreat for any reason (e.g., insufficient participants, lack of instructors, etc.), we will offer a full refund.

However, TaoMatch is not liable for failure to perform its obligations due to circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters (e.g., earthquake, flood)
  • Acts of war or terrorism
  • Epidemics, pandemics, or government travel restrictions
  • Labor strikes or civil unrest

In such events, we may cancel, modify, or reschedule retreats without refund, although credit or alternative dates may be offered where feasible.

5. Travel Requirements and Insurance

You are responsible for securing any required travel documents (e.g., visas, passport). Furthermore, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, flight cancellations, lost luggage, retreat fees, etc.

6. Health, Safety, and Participant Responsibilities

Please seek the advice of your doctor for any questions you may have regarding a medical condition or vaccination requirements before considering a holiday or before traveling. In case of a health issue or injury, TaoMatch will assist in arranging medical treatment, but we are not liable for any related costs or outcomes. Participants are strongly advised to have international travel and health insurance.

7. Code of Conduct

To create a respectful, safe, and immersive experience for all participants, you agree to the following conduct expectations:

  • Treat all staff, instructors, and participants with respect.
  • Refrain from disruptive behavior during activities or communal time.
  • Follow instructions from retreat facilitators and Taoist masters.
  • Observe quiet hours and practice silence when requested.
  • Respect local customs, culture, and sacred sites.

Failure to adhere to the code of conduct may result in expulsion from the retreat without refund.

8. Liability and Risk Acknowledgment

TaoMatch cooperates closely with our operator partners. We are not able to assume responsibility for this information supplied by them and we must disclaim all liability in respect of such information.

By joining a TaoMatch retreat, you acknowledge that participation involves inherent risks, including but not limited to physical exertion, exposure to outdoor environment, travel-related stress, cultural misunderstandings, etc.

You accept full responsibility for your actions and well-being during the retreat. TaoMatch is not liable for injury, illness, loss, or damage incurred during or as a result of participation in the retreat, third-party service failures (e.g., hotels, airlines, transport companies), personal belongings lost, stolen, or damaged.

Our liability for any claim shall not exceed the total amount paid for the retreat.

9. Program Changes and Modifications

TaoMatch will try its best to run the activities as planned. However, it reserves the right to alter schedules, venues, instructors, or content due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to weather, illness, or availability. All retreat activities are optional. No refunds are issued for missed activities, whether due to personal choice or inability to participate. Where necessary, we may substitute accommodations, transportation, or services with alternatives of similar quality. Such changes do not constitute a breach of contract.

10. Intellectual Property

All content shared or used during the retreat—including TaoMatch course materials, manuals, graphics, logos, photography, and media—is the intellectual property of TaoMatch or its licensors. You may not record, reproduce, distribute, or use this content for commercial purposes without prior written permission. Personal use (e.g., taking notes or photos for memory) is allowed unless otherwise restricted.

11. Complaints and Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint during the retreat, please raise it immediately with the retreat leader or designated staff, so we can attempt to resolve it on-site.

If you have further complaints, please write to us within 14 days of the retreat’s conclusion. We will review and respond in writing within 30 days.

If you, in good faith, believe that certain material hosted by Kicker infringes your copyright, you may submit a written notification to us, providing the information specified below:

  1. Please provide a clear identification of the copyrighted work you allege has been infringed, including sufficient detail to enable us to locate the material in question.
  2. Kindly include a clear identification of the material claimed to be infringing, such as a direct link to the specific content on our website.
  3. Please include your full name, telephone number, and email address for us to contact you.
  4. Please include in the notice a physical or electronic signature of the owner of the exclusive right allegedly infringed, or of a person authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

Please be advised that incomplete or improperly submitted complaints cannot be processed. Additionally, any misrepresentation regarding the infringing nature of the content or activity in question may expose the submitting party to liability for damages.

These Terms are governed by the laws of China. Any disputes shall be resolved through arbitration or in the appropriate court of jurisdiction.
